Jag jobbar här nu

Solo show at DAS WEISSE HAUS, Vienna, Austria
04.12. 2025 – 24.01.2026

Jag jobbar här nu (English: I work here now) by Krišjānis Beļavskis concludes his 6 month residency at DAS WEISSE HAUS during which he has been working with the notion of mock job applications and truths that sound more like lies. One of these ideas involves filming short scenes featuring a character named Hugo. Jag jobbar här nu feature sculpture, video, photography and relaxed watercolour landscape painting that in one way or another have been influenced by the experiences gathered in Vienna – from listening to Herman Czech lectures on architecture to watching Barry Lydon at the Gartenbaukino.
This exhibition marked the very first edition of the SPOT Exchange Award, a new joint initiative by the Art Academy of Latvia, the Zuzeum Art Centre, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and DAS WEISSE HAUS. The award includes a six-month residency at STUDIO DAS WEISSE HAUS, offering the selected artist dedicated resources, a vibrant and supportive creative environment, and meaningful engagement with a wide artistic network.
